History

The Haas FinTech Club was founded in 2016 and currently supports more than 340 members. It is one of the fastest-growing clubs in Berkeley-Haas history with 250+ event attendees, attracting students from across UC Berkeley. The club aims to prepare students for careers in FinTech through education, treks, and other programs.

Shaurya Kalsi

Prior to Haas, Shaurya worked as a software engineer at Goldman Sachs where he built systems that enabled the derivative trading and asset management businesses. His professional experience is what got him interested in FinTech, as he witnessed the power that technology had in transforming the financial services industry, and he hopes to bring its potential to a larger audience by building products that help individuals become financially independent.

In his spare time, Shaurya loves to try new restaurants in his locality. He’s also very fond of traveling, having lived and grown up in 4 countries. Shaurya studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley for his undergrad.

Jon Thompson

Prior to Haas, Jon worked at the nexus of public policy and technology strategy, serving the U.S. Government as a consultant at Deloitte. While there, Jon built a financial literacy continuing education series for the firm’s leadership development program, and he continues to harbor a deep passion for personal finance education and financial inclusion. He is passionate about FinTech solutions that can enrich society and contribute to the greater good.

In his spare time, Jon enjoys writing songs on the piano, hiking our National Parks, and plowing through a very long list of classic films. He studied finance and international business at the University of South Carolina.

Stephanie Wenclawski

Stephanie Wenclawski is a Haas Entrepreneurial Finance (Fintech) Fellow. Prior to Haas, Stephanie was a technology consultant at Deloitte, where she advised various clients across a wide spectrum of industries on devising technological solutions to optimize their business.

Stephanie helped to found Deloitte’s Financial Inclusion Initiative, which helped her pursue her interest in financial inclusion. Stephanie is particularly interested in personal finance and financial management, especially for women.

In her spare time, Stephanie loves to travel and be outdoors. Stephanie serves as a board member for Stellar Academy School for Dyslexics. She studied marine sciences at North Carolina State University.

Jacqueline Schindler

Jacqueline is a second-year student in the EWMBA program. She is currently a Senior Relationship Manager at S&P Global, where she manages access to market data platforms and products for Private Equity and Venture Capital firms as well as Investment Banks. She was previously the VP for Evening/Weekend of the Haas FinTech Club, working with the leadership team to plan networking events and strategize on companies of interest.

Outside of Haas and S&P, Jacqueline enjoys traveling (in non-pandemic times), hiking, and cooking. Jacqueline serves as a board member for the Curry Senior Center’s Professionals, Advocates, and Leadership program, working with homeless and low income seniors in San Francisco. She studied Political Science and English at Duke University.

Yuhsin Cheng

Yuhsin Cheng is VP of Academics for the Haas Fintech Club and an InSite Fellow. Prior to Haas, Yuhsin worked as a Financial Analyst at Apple supporting the APAC expansion of internet services, such as Apple Pay and iCloud. 

Yuhsin is passionate about fintech products, specifically in the payments and personal finance spaces. She aspires to build a financial system that brings financial inclusion towards minorities. 

Outside of class, Yuhsin is a coffee addict certified barista by the Specialty Coffee Association, and enjoys baking desserts.

Saurabh Nayak

Before Haas, Saurabh was an investment manager at Northern Arc Investments: an impact investment fund focused on driving financial inclusion in India. At Northern Arc, he developed a sales and trading product for investment bankers, corporate treasuries, and asset managers working in India's private debt markets. 

Saurabh is excited about creating new products. In his spare time, he loves to hike. He studied engineering and economics at BITS Pilani, India

Snigdha Jha

Snigdha is an engineer by profession with a passion for the cashless payment Industry. She very keenly follows developments in the technology and legal policies of the United States as well as India on cryptocurrency and UPI transactions. She loves learning about up and coming startups in the FinTech space and about the business models of emerging companies in the cashless payment sector (Stripe, RazorPay, Paytm, Paypal, and GooglePay being her favorites).

Snigdha is also a Stock/ETF/Options Enthusiast and has learnt a lot in the last year about the economic as well as technical indicators that impact the market.

In her spare time, Snigdha is working on building a SAAS Startup with her husband and a couple of friends. She mainly focuses on identifying the product/market fit and figuring out the GTM strategy, while staying true to solving the technical problems and giving engineers on the team enough space and resources to innovate.

In her spare time, Snigdha enjoys working out on a quarterly basis and hogging home-made food in various cuisines on a daily basis, and keeps herself busy with a weekly dose of art and crafts!
